James and the Dragon is the seventh short of the Short Story Adventures series. It is from Dragon Run.
Plot[]
Thomas, Percy and Kana are playing knights with the dragon float for the medieval festival, with Thomas being the dragon. However, a failed attempt at catching Percy results in the dragon coming loose from its flatbed and flying off towards James, who promptly panics once he sees it has locked its jaws on his tender. A small chase ensues before Kana catches the red engine and Thomas removes the dragon from his tender, and after an explanation of what happened, James offers to join in, suggesting that he be the "handsome and almost unbearably charming" knight. Percy takes the role of the dragon as the game resumes with James in participation.

Trivia[]
- In the US dub, Thomas saying "Oh no!" is reused from the first series episode, A Thomas Promise.
- This short marks James' first major role in All Engines Go as well as the first starring role for any character outside of the main seven.
- The title is a reference to the 2005 animated series, Jane and the Dragon. (Another cartoon by Nelvana.)
Goofs[]
- When the engines catch the dragon, James' boiler bands overlap his dome.
- When Percy starts chasing Thomas, his coal bunker is missing.
- Throughout the entire short, James' lamp is seen in the wrong place.
- In James' front view, his dome is positioned in front of his funnel.
- James decreased in size for the last few seconds of the short.
- Luke Marty is not credited for voicing James in the UK version.
- In the UK dub, when Kana says "Huzzah!", she has her US voice.
- When Thomas turns around after giving the dragon float to Percy, he has Percy's face minus his blue irises.
