King Orry's Bridge was the terminus of the Mid Sodor Railway located on the outskirts of Peel Godred.
History[]
Around 1900, the Mid Sodor Railway expanded its line beyond Arlesdale Road and built a station near the historic site of King Orry's Bridge. This was much more convenient for those who wished to reach the shopping centre of Peel Godred, and since King Orry's Bridge provided the only access to the town from the south, this station became the valley's railhead for the next thirty years.[1] This station replaced Arlesdale Road as the railway's terminus, leading to its closure.
The mountain section of the Mid Sodor Railway was closed in 1936 and with it went King Orry's Bridge.
