The learning segments, also known as Learn With Thomas, were small educational videos which usually appeared between episodes on eighth to twelfth series DVDs and in half hour television airings. The segments often feature new live-action footage and some of them feature animation by Gizmo Animation Limited. They were written by Paul Larson, Ross Hastings and Marc Seal.
