Leaves on the Line is a magazine story illustrated using photographs from the television series.
Plot
Gordon is too dirty to pull coaches so he sent to shunt trucks. Gordon warns James about the trucks being troublesome on the slippy hill, but James ignores Gordon's warning. On the hill rain had made the leaves stick to the track, and James tries, but fails to get to the top. Gordon arrives with a goods train and pushes James up the hill. Gordon had been a really useful engine after all.
