- During the song, Nia does her "piston pop" from the first series episode, Capture the Flag.
- Percy saying "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" when going up the hill is a reference to The Little Engine That Could.
- Thomas and Percy falling out is similar to The Railway Series story, Drip Tank, the original series episodes, Thomas, Percy and the Coal and Best Friends, the 2011 special, Day of the Diesels and the 2014 special, Tale of the Brave.
- The scene where Percy gets hit by a tree branch is also similar to Drip Tank from More About Thomas the Tank Engine.
- This is the fourth episode to only feature characters from the original series, the first three being the first series episodes, A Quiet Delivery, Lost and Found and The Can-Do Submarine Crew!. This is also the first episode to feature all the characters from the original and reformed Steam Team with the exceptions of Toby (not being in All Engines Go! at the time) and Rebecca.
