These trucks are based on Great Western Railway (GWR) MEX B Diagram W8 cattle wagons.

These wagons are painted brown with black roofs. Some also have dark green doors.

- The Bachmann and Hornby releases of the cattle trucks use LMS cattle truck toolings.

- A total of two of these wagons were built in Gauge 1 for the model series.
- The ninth series episode Percy and the Oil Painting marks the only time both wagons are seen in a train together.
- Sometime before the tenth series, one of the wagons' roofs was mistakenly swapped with that of a GWR cattle truck.
- One of the purple livestock wagons was briefly on display at the Discover Thomas & Friends Exhibition at Drayton Manor Resort.
- In the Golden Books, the Bean Vans are modified from the livestock wagons with covered sides.

The wagon is a modified Taff Vale Railway Macaw G fitted with a modified version of the top half of a stray animal wagon.
