The Hatts' Butlers
The Hatt family has employed at least two butlers. The first butler has balding, black hair while the second has neatly kept brown hair.
Biography
The first butler once told Sir Topham Hatt, who was in the middle of having his breakfast, he was wanted on the telephone, to which Sir Topham Hatt then found out about Thomas getting into trouble with a policeman and had to go at once.[1]
A second butler later took over. One night, this butler brought the telephone to Sir Topham Hatt, who answered the call about Fergus going missing and sent Thomas to search for him.[2]

Trevor's Master
Trevor's Master was Trevor's previous owner. He would occasionally hire Jem Cole as Trevor's driver.
Biography
When Trevor used to work at his old mill, his master would send him to farms to do various jobs, such as thrashing corn and hauling logs. One day however, he thought Trevor was too old fashioned and sent him to Crocks Scrap Yard on Edward's Branch Line.

The Barber
The Barber works at C&B Barber, which he had set up at the end of a siding in Crosby Yards.
Biography
While the barber was shaving a customer, Duck had crashed into the barbershop while trying to stop a runaway train. Although Duck tried to apologise, the barber was furious with him for frightening the customers and he covered Duck's face with shaving cream. When Sir Topham Hatt arrived, the barber complained to him about the incident and Sir Topham Hatt scolding him by explaining that Duck and his crew helped to prevent a much worse accident, adding that it was "a very close shave". After realising this, the barber quickly washed some of the shaving cream off Duck's face and apologised for misjudging him.

Biography
While the customer was being shaved by the barber, Duck had crashed into the barbershop while trying to stop a runaway train. After Duck tried to apologise, the barber told Duck that he had frightened the customer.

The Foreign Gentlemen were going to appear in the cancelled second series episode, Hullo Twins, in which they would have talked to Sir Topham Hatt after Douglas accidentally shunted the special coach in a siding. They later accompanied him when he disciplined Douglas.

The Tidmouth stationmaster's family consists of his wife, son and daughter.
Biography
After a careless cleaner had meddled with Thomas' controls, Thomas started moving and crashed into the dining room of the family's house, where they were having breakfast. The Tidmouth stationmaster's wife scolded Thomas for spoiling their breakfast.

She was saying goodbye to a friend at Knapford before Gordon's passenger train could start one evening. When she waved to her friend, who was sitting near the guard's compartment, Gordon's fireman thought the green flag had been waved and they set off, causing the first in a series of mix-ups.

The Enthusiasts once had a tour of the Island of Sodor.
Biography
Bertie once gave the enthusiasts a tour of Sodor. That afternoon, Edward took them from Knapford to Brendam Docks, where Bill and Ben took them to the China Clay Works using two brake vans. The enthusiasts enjoyed their time and were impressed with the place. After they returned to Brendam Docks, Edward took the enthusiasts back to Knapford. However, he stopped on the way due to a broken crankpin, much to the anxious enthusiasts. After Edward's crew made adjustments to the coaches, Edward was able to move the train and when he arrived at Knapford, the enthusiasts cheered and thanked Edward and his crew for their hard work.

The Railway Society
The Railway Society were an association of people.
Biography
When City of Truro visited the Island of Sodor and was at Tidmouth Sheds, the Railway Society were among the people who arrived to see the engine and were making notes and taking photographs.
Some of the Railway Society members have also attended other special events, such as the official opening of Kirk Ronan, the "best dressed station" award of Maithwaite and the unveiling of the famous artist's new painting at Knapford.

The Duke of Sodor
The Duke of Sodor was the Duke of Sodor on the Mid Sodor Railway. Duke was named after him. He would later be succeeded by Sir Robert Norramby, the Earl of Sodor.

The Man with Grey Trench Coat and Hat is a man who has been seen around the Island of Sodor.
Biography

Mr. Walsh
Mr. Walsh, known as The Special Visitor, is in charge of searching for a new playground location.
Biography
Mr. Walsh arrived on the Island of Sodor to build a new playground for the children as their old one had closed. He, along with Sir Topham Hatt, utilised Harold to see possible areas for the new playground. As a result, rumours spread amongst the engines that they were to be replaced by Harold, but these were found to be untrue after Gordon's accident in a tunnel. From the crash, Mr. Walsh found the perfect sand for the new playground.

Biography
When a cricket ball landed in one of Stepney's trucks, the tailor was among the cricketers who shouted at Stepney to stop. However, Stepney did not hear them and continued on. The tailor later joined some of the cricketers in Caroline to retrieve the ball.
After Sir Topham Hatt received a kilt as a present from Lord Callan, he had it measured for him by the tailor.

The Campers are a group of people who often go camping at the Campsite.
Biography
Some of the campers once set up their tents at the slate quarry due to the signposts pointing in the wrong direction. When Rusty was searching for the Hatts, he asked the campers if they had seen them, but they did not. Rusty later wondered why the campers were at the slate quarry and realised that the signposts were incorrect.

Dowager Hatt's Friends
Dowager Hatt's Friends are two elderly ladies. They often go on trips with Bertie to different places, such as Bluffs Cove. They also seem to be thrill-seekers like Dowager Hatt. One is occasionally seen without the other. Sometimes they can be seen with an elderly gentleman whom they seem to be good friends with (one of the ladies can even be seen kissing him at one point). They were some of the very important visitors that attended Dowager Hatt's tour of the island and after party at Knapford. One of them was presented with a bouquet of flowers from a member of the railway staff on Sodor Surprise Day. One of them also served as a judge at the Great Railway Show. It is known that one of the ladies is named Lady Toffington. Whilst she was in covering for Sir Topham Hatt as head of the railway, Dowager Hatt ordered Edward to pick up a cake and take it to Vicarstown for her.

The Deputy Minister
The Deputy Minister arrived on Sodor to present Sir Topham Hatt with an award for "Services to Transport". The Deputy Minister arrived on Spencer, who was so busy trying to get the minister to the station in time that he caused confusion and was diverted onto a branch line. When they finally did arrive at Knapford, the Deputy Minister said he was not impressed and refused to travel home with Spencer. Throughout the day, the other engines all competed to be given the special job of taking the minister home. Due to all their rushing about, the engines caused a lot of trouble. After the Fat Controller lectured the engines on how showing off can lead to more mistakes and decided that none of them deserved the job, he offered to lend the minister his car to get home, but Spencer asked if he could do the job because he learned from his mistake. Seeing that Spencer was sorry, the minister decided that Spencer and the railway deserved a second chance. The minister returned to Sodor the next day and was impressed with what he saw while the engines worked normally. He then presented a special trophy to the Fat Controller. The Deputy Minister lives on the Mainland, serving in the Department for Transport and reads the Sodor Times newspaper. He can be firm at times, but can also be understanding.

Albert's Wife
Albert's Wife is an unnamed woman and Little Thomas's mother.
Biography
One day, she walked onto the platform at Knapford pushing her baby in a pram and climbed aboard Thomas' train. When they stopped at the signal, she tried to calm her baby down whilst the passengers started getting annoyed at his constant noise. She had to get off at Ffarquhar with her baby. The mother and her baby waited to get back on the train at Ffarquhar. The baby continued crying every time Thomas stopped at every station. Once they got back to Knapford, the mother kept trying to calm her baby. Thomas asked the Fat Controller if he could miss his break and take the mother and her baby on a journey with no stops at every station, so they could both get some rest and thought it was a very kind idea and so had it arranged. Thomas took the mother and her baby along his branch line without any stops at every station as not only did her baby fall fast asleep, but also his mother. When Thomas returned to Knapford, she decided to name him Thomas after the day's events.

Whilst stranded during a visit to the US Southwest, a group of Cowboys and Cowgirls helped Thomas, Ace and the trucks get back on the tracks and reloaded, thanks to Beau (who brought equipment for the re-railing) alerting them of the derailed train.

The Tiger Hunters
While Thomas was working in India, he encountered a pair of tiger hunters. The duo privately hired Rajiv under the pretence of tiger spotting, but had brought a cage in order to capture one. Shankar noticed this and he and Thomas were able to warn Rajiv, while the pair cleared a tree branch from the line. Rajiv distracted them by taking them in circles around the tiger sanctuary, while Shankar dressed as a tiger to fool them. This gave Thomas enough time to get Charubala and the police, who arrested the pair and locked them in their own cage, while they pleaded it was just a misunderstanding.

Ranger Jill
Ranger Jill is a forest ranger who works within the Kuranda Rainforest in Australia. One day, while she was looking for a kookaburra, she met Thomas. He helped her for much of the day as an "Assistant Ranger", though she sent him away after he tried to shoo off a koala with his whistle. When Thomas noticed a bushfire, he came back to pick up Ranger Jill and the two were able to save the koalas in the rainforest, except for one named Banjo. Thomas went back and saved Banjo and when he returned Ranger Jill told him the fire fighters were able to get the bushfire under control. She then named a new born crocodile whose egg she found after the tank engine.
