The Termite Mounds are a set of mounds beside a railway line in Australia. Shane, Aubrey and Aiden take passengers here on their tourist trains.

The Old Rickety Bridge is a bridge in Australia. Thomas once got stuck in a precarious position on the bridge, but was fortunately saved when Isla saw the emergency and sent Shane to rescue him.

The Outback Mine
The Outback Mine is a rock quarry in the Outback of Australia. The site also has a small station building for workers at the quarry and a siding for coaches, as well as a runway for Isla to land on.

The Outback Junction is a large wye junction in the Outback of Australia. Shane once ran out of coal here.

Brazil
The Brazilian Goods Yard
The Brazilian Goods Yard is a large shunting yard on the Brazilian Railway. Marcia and Marcio bring eucalyptus wood from the Eucalyptus Plantation here to be taken to Guanabara Bay.

The Eucalyptus Plantation
The Eucalyptus Plantation is a forest of eucalyptus trees located on the Eucalyptus Railway in Brazil. Marcia and Marcio work and source their fuel from here. Thomas once visited the plantation to collect eucalyptus wood for Gabriela. It was during this job that he first met Marcio and Marcia.

Cherry Blossom Runby
The Cherry Blossom Runby is a stretch of the railway line located somewhere in China. On one side of the tracks is a forest of cherry blossom trees; on the other side is the Chang Jiang River, which leads to the paddy fields in Tu Zi Quan. This river ended up transporting the new bamboo water wheel to Tu Zi Quan when Thomas lost it.

The Chinese Railway Bridge is a tall single-track bridge over a gorge in China, with a tunnel on either side. It is located within a mountain range.

The Chinese Town Halt Tunnel is a tunnel that is situated on a railway in China. It is located near The Chinese Town Halt.

The Bamboo Forest
The Bamboo Forest is a forest in China. The forest contains many rare wild animals, such as the red panda, the Asian black bear and the panda bear. The forest also contains a nature reserve looked after by the local community. Because of these attributes, a film crew once filmed a nature documentary in this forest.

Chinese Railway Shunting Yard
The Chinese Railway Shunting Yard is a yard in the Himalayan mountain region of China.
History
Before receiving his red coat of paint, Yong Bao used to work in this yard shunting trucks. It was here that he first met the tiger which would later help him prevent an accident, earning him his new paintwork.[1]
Thomas and Yong Bao used this yard to practise the Tai Chi method to stop a runaway truck with Lei during the former's visit to China.[2]

India
Indian Railway Shunting Yard
The Indian Railway Shunting Yard is a large shunting yard in India.
History
During Thomas' journey around the world, he and Nia travelled through the shunting yard on their way back to Sodor. It was here that the yard signalman spotted them and informed Mr. Percival of their whereabouts.[3]
Once, when Thomas visited India again, the yard was used as the set for a Bollywood movie.[4] Another time, the yard hosted a fancy costume contest.[5]

The Indian Beam Bridge
The Indian Beam Bridge is a three-track railway bridge crossing a river in India. It is currently unknown exactly where the bridge is located.

The Indian Paddy Field
The Indian Paddy Field is a large, muddy rice field in India. Trusty Trunky lives here.
History
Once, Thomas derailed here and got stuck in the mud. While Rajiv was fetching the breakdown train, an elephant came along and helped push Thomas back onto the rails. When Ashima arrived at the scene, she revealed that she once had a similar incident and was helped by the same elephant, who she named Trusty Trunky.

Indian Bridge Over Tunnel Runby
The Indian Bridge Over Tunnel Runby is a bridge spanning over a tunnel portal. It is located on the Indian Railway. Rajiv once had his crown stolen here by some of the local monkeys.

The Indian Mountain Railway
The Indian Mountain Railway is a line which climbs up a steep mountain in India. Thomas once passed the line while delivering some fabrics. It is likely this is meant to be based on one of India's many mountain-climbing railway lines, though which one has yet to be confirmed.

The Indian Desert is a large sandy desert located in India. Thomas once passed through the desert on his way to Surajpur and saw some camels here. It is likely that this is the Desert National Park, however this has yet to be confirmed.

The Elephant Lake
The Elephant Lake is a small lake located somewhere in India, nearby the junction leading to Surajpur. The lake is home to a group of elephants, who distracted Thomas once when he was trying to get to Surajpur.

The Italian Cliffside Town
The Italian Cliffside Town is a walled town located atop a hill and overlooking a cliff in Italy. A railway line passes by the town lower down the cliff.

The Italian Construction Site
The Italian Construction Site is the site for the construction of a new museum in Italy. The site has its own small halt with two wooden platforms. Ester works here. There is also a tunnel nearby.
History
When Thomas visited Italy, Gina was helping transport materials to and from the site. While working here, Ester uncovered an ancient Roman city. Because of this, the site for the new museum was moved across to the other side of the tracks. Jack, Alfie, Oliver, Max, Monty and Brenda were later called in to help due to the delayed construction caused by the museum site being moved.

The First Old Italian Mine
The First Old Italian Mine is an abandoned mine in Italy.
History
Thomas visited the mine when he got lost on his way back to the Museum of Archeology. While travelling through the mine, he thought he heard the calls of the lost engine; however Gina helped him realize that these were merely his own echoes.

The Second Old Italian Mine
The Second Old Italian Mine is an abandoned mine located along the Italian coast. Lorenzo and Beppe were once lost here.
History
Long ago, Lorenzo and Beppe got trapped in the mine while Lorenzo was looking for hidden treasures. The story would go on to become the tale of the legendary lost engine, which Stefano would later recount to Thomas.
Thomas later ended up in the mine when a rock fell from Monty and hit a points lever, causing him to be diverted. Here, he found Lorenzo along with his coach Beppe and helped them to escape the mine. They were then picked up by Stefano upon smashing through an exit over the sea.

The Italian Junkyard is a junkyard nearby a railway line located somewhere in Italy. Lorenzo once got lost here while taking the opera singer Dame Bella Canto to the Colosseum, and was reunited with Beppe.

The Great Railway Show Yard
The Great Railway Show Yard is a large shunting yard on the Mainland that was used as the venue for the Great Railway Show. The yard is maintained by four diesel shunters.
History
Residential, commercial and industrial buildings sit on elevated land around the yard. The yard itself has two turntables - one by the entrance and one by the exit - as well as numerous points and sidings. There is an elevated section of track near the edge of the yard for the strength challenge.
The best decorated parade, strength challenge and shunting challenge all took place within the yard, while the race took place outside on a specialised loop of tracks.

Barrow-in-Furness Junction
Barrow-in-Furness Junction is a junction on the Mainland side of the Vicarstown Bridge. Thomas onced had to move to different tracks to avoid hitting Connor, Hiro and Sidney.

The Great Race Circuit
The Great Race Circuit is a loop of tracks near the Great Railway Show Yard and the venue for the Great Race. The circuit has five tracks, with the outer track having catenary for electric engines.

The Mainland Viaduct
The Mainland Viaduct is a long, tall bridge across a river located on the Mainland.

The Mainland Junction
The Mainland Junction is a large junction on the Mainland. A viaduct is located just before this junction. One of the junction's tunnels leads to the Beresford's Canal.

- The tunnel portals are reused from the Bridge Over Single-Track Tunnel, albeit retextured.
- The signal gantries are reused from Knapford.
- The signal box is reused from Kirk Ronan Junction.
- A scaled up version of the track leading up to the Arlesburgh West Ballast Chute is reused as the bridge that Hiro passes over.
- In real life, the setup of this bridge would be impractical as the supports are placed over the tracks.
Beresford's Canal
Beresford's Canal is a small wharf on the Mainland where Beresford unloads cargo. The Experimental Engines Yard is located nearby.
History
Thomas and his train of Troublesome Trucks once found themselves here by accident, where they were briefly held up by Beresford. Thomas later returned to the canal, only to be lifted up by Beresford while attempting to sneak past. It was here that he first found out Hurricane and Frankie had managed to lure James to the Steelworks.[6]
Another time, when Thomas and The Fat Controller were trying to find their way to London, Beresford stopped Thomas and picked him up, accidentally losing some of Thomas's royal banners. While there, Thomas asked Beresford for directions to London, only to be mixed up on whether to go left or right at the next junction.[7]

- In Journey Beyond Sodor, the Mainland Canal's signal box was painted pink with a green roof. As of the twenty-fourth series, it is now white with a black roof.
- The Mainland Canal's set was reused for the River Station in China.
- According to an interview with Michael White, the Mainland Canal is located somewhere far east in England.
The Experimental Engines Yard
The Experimental Engines Yard is a large railway yard deep inside a forest on the Mainland. Merlin, Lexi and Theo resided here prior to relocating to the Steelworks.
