The Pond Runby is an area where the Main Line passes a pond. It is located between Henry's Tunnel and the Goat's Field.

The Three-Track Bend and Signalbox is a bend in the Main Line near a signal box south of Knapford. The signalman once stopped Thomas here because Thomas had left his coaches behind.

- When the bend appeared in the first series, there was only one signal at the signal box, but when it reappeared in The Adventure Begins, there were now three signals.
- In the first series, the bend curved to the left after the signal box, but in The Adventure Begins, it curved right.

The Maron Signals Runby is an area immediately west of Maron station on the Main Line. There are a set of signals and a small brick cottage here.

Rail Under Road Bridge and Stone Wall[]
The Rail Under Road Bridge and Stone Wall is a stone bridge located on the Loop Line between Tidmouth and Elsbridge. Isobella was once pushed over the edge of the stone wall next to the bridge by the wind while carrying a piano, however was thankfully saved from falling onto the tracks by Kelly.

The Woodland Runby[]
The Woodland Runby is a small wooded area on the Main Line between Knapford Bus Yard and the Pond Runby.

The Wide-Arched Bridge is a road bridge that spans over the Ffarquhar Branch Line near Elsbridge. It is made of red brick and characterised by the wide arch in its centre.

The Branch Line Bridge is a short metal truss bridge that carries Edward's Branch Line over the main road to Brendam. It is located south of Lower Suddery.

The Branch Line Cutting is a forested cutting on Thomas' Branch Line. The cutting is located on the Harbour line, east of New Harbour and west of Crowe's Farm.
During wintertime, the cutting is prone to large snowdrifts forming, which often have to be dealt with by Donald and Douglas.

The Dual Bends is a set of two sharp curves on The Main Line west of Crosby, near Henry's Tunnel. It was here that Donald and Douglas rescued Henry from a snowdrift one winter.

The Ruined Castle Bend is a curve on the Main Line somewhere between Maron and Crovan's Gate. There is an old, dilapidated castle nearby.

Standard and Narrow Gauge Tunnels[]
The Standard and Narrow Gauge Tunnels are a set of two parallel tunnels, one standard gauge for the North Western Railway and one narrow gauge for the Skarloey Railway.
On former Railway Consultant Sam Wilkinson's 2014 map of Sodor, the tunnels are placed on Stepney's Branch Line north of Glennock, close to the Rolling River Bridge Junction.
Gordon and his snow machine were once buried by snow at the mouth of the tunnel after he let off steam loudly, which dislodged the snow above the standard gauge tunnel portal.[1]

The Unsafe Tree Hill is a hill where an old tree once slid down on the track and almost fell on top of James. It is located somewhere along Edward's Branch Line between Brendam and Wellsworth.

The Old Branch Line Farm[]
The Old Branch Line Farm is a farm next to a rusty old branch line on the Island of Sodor.
History[]
While taking a goods train from Brendam Docks, Gordon was accidentally sent down the branch line after the signalman forgot to set the points correctly. After ignoring a "go slow" sign, Gordon's weight buckled the tracks underneath him, causing his train to derail and Gordon to run through the farm before stopping in a muddy field.

The Iron Road Bridge is a bridge crossing over the Main Line between Gordon's Hill and Wellsworth Crossing. A siding with a water tower is located nearby the bridge.

The Muddy Field is a field along the Brendam Branch Line near Wellsworth.

Due to a flooded road, Bertie once tried to cut through this field while taking the Sodor Brass Band to their concert, but only succeeded in getting himself stuck. Thankfully Edward - the band's original mode of transportation - heard the tuba player's SOS call and got them to the concert in record time.

The Skarloey Railway Yard is a small yard complex on the Skarloey Railway. There are several sidings here as well as a water tower and coal bunker for the engines. Duncan once came to this yard for coal, but found the bunker had run out.[2]

- In The Refreshment Lady's Tea Shop there is a round water tower on the far line, with the square water tower between lines. From The Runaway Elephant onwards, the round water tower disappears and is replaced by the square water tower.

Cream Signal Box and Siding[]
The Cream Signal Box and Siding Runby is an area where three parallel tracks run past a signal box and its nearby siding. There are two opposing junctions here with a water tower situated between them. A small road runs past the signal box.

The School Apple Orchard is a small orchard located behind a school and nearby a railway line. A costume party was once held here, which Thomas ended up accidentally winning after he got covered in toffee and leaves.

Three-Track Level Crossing[]
The Three-Track Level Crossing is a level crossing situated on a curve along the Main Line somewhere between Knapford and Wellsworth.[4][5] Nearby the crossing, there is a cottage for the gatekeeper. On one side of the crossing gates, there is a single track which splits off from the rest before the crossing. It is unknown where this track leads.

- The crossing has undergone several aesthetic changes throughout the series:
- Series 11:
- The cottage besides the crossing is replaced with a smaller one.
- The track now curves in the opposite direction.
- Series 13:
- A new track which runs parallel to the rest before splitting off near the crossing is added.
- The roof of the cottage becomes a darker shade of grey.
- Series 17:
- The cottage is now coloured brown rather than cream.
- The fourth track is removed and the branching track is connected to the Main Line.
- Series 19:
- A paved area is added behind the cottage.
- Series 22:
- The cottage changes colour again, this time to a shade of grey.
- The roads around the crossing change from paved to dirt.
- Series 11:
- The crossing has appeared in every series of the CGI era with the exception of the twenty-first, where it only appears in a deleted scene.
Double-Track Bridge and Siding Runby[]
The Double-Track Bridge and Siding Runby is an area near Ballahoo, where a double-tracked bridge crosses over a triple-tracked line nearby a small siding.
Once, whilst trying to get his photograph taken, Thomas overtook Percy by the signal box, surprising the latter and causing him to run into a pile of coal at the end of the siding. Thomas later came back to lift him out with Rocky.

- Interestingly, the bridge's CGI model from the test episode Thomas and the Stinky Cheese retains its original colour.
- In the thirteenth series episode Creaky Cranky, both Thomas and Gordon are seen crossing the bridge in opposite directions, despite the bridge having only one track. This was done by layering Gordon behind the bridge.

The Six Track Junction and Signal Box is a section of the Main Line that is six tracks wide. There is a junction and signal box here. The area appears to be a carriage yard, as both green and red express coaches can often be seen here.

Junction and Passing Loop[]
The Junction and Passing Loop is a junction with a Passing Loop somewhere on the Main Line on the Island of Sodor. Once, the last truck on Rosie's Funfair Special snapped its coupling and flew into Stepney waiting at the junction. Later a tree was blocking Donald and Douglas' path and Harvey was coming to clear the line until Thomas told the Signalmen to change the points to avoid a collision between Harvey and the tree.

Hiro's Second Hideout is a passing loop on the Main Line hidden by bushes and trees. After Spencer discovered Hiro's first hiding place, he was temporarily moved here. Scruff later hid from Thomas here in fear of being cleaned.

The Road, Rail and Level Crossing Interchange is an area with two sidings used by Flynn to switch between road and rail. The road runs parallel to the railway on both sides, and gradually splits off into different directions. There is an elevated town nearby.

Paxton's Junction[]
Paxton's Junction is a junction along the Main Line between Knapford and Wellsworth, which Paxton uses when bringing stone down from the Blue Mountain Quarry.
History[]
When Winston became a runaway, he nearly hit Paxton at this junction.[9] On another occasion, Gordon's boiler was hit by a stone from one of Paxton's trucks when the latter had to stop suddenly, causing a leak.[10]

- Although the junction is shown to be between Knapford and Wellsworth in the seventeenth series, the production-used 2014 map of Sodor by former Railway Consultant Sam Wilkinson does not depict any junction here which connects to the Blue Mountain Quarry. It is possible that the junction's location has since been retconned, as its creation predates the updated Island of Sodor map.

Thomas and Duck accidentally got stuck in the tunnel when transporting Harold back to the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre. Later, James took Rocky through the tunnel to save Duck when he was stuck in water.

The Cow Field Passing Loop[]
The Cow Field Passing Loop is a passing loop on Thomas' Branch Line near the Tower Windmill. There is a signal box and water tower here, along with several signals. There is another signal box a little further up the line, closer to the windmill.

The Humpback Bridge[]
The Humpback Bridge is a road bridge located along the Main Line west of Kellsthorpe Road.[13] The bridge is situated between a hill and a sharp bend, where Hiro once derailed.[14]

Bridge Over Double-Track Tunnel[]
The Bridge Over Double-Track Tunnel is a bridge spanning over a tunnel portal. Philip once caught James on his roof here after the latter was pushed down a hill by heavy flatbeds.[15]

- In the twenty-fourth series, it appears that the bridge is made of a more grey coloured stone as opposed to the normal tan stone used in previous series.
- The precise location of the bridge is inconsistent:
- In Philip to the Rescue, it is shown to be on the eastern side of Gordon's Hill, carrying the Main Line.
- In Journey Beyond Sodor, it appears to be somewhere near Maithwaite, crossing Thomas' Branch Line.

The First Main Line Passing Loop is a passing loop with a small water tower and a signal box nearby.

Glynn's Siding[]
Glynn's Siding is a siding on the Ffarquhar Branch Line.
History[]
Long ago, Glynn was moved from siding to siding, later being forgotten about after being moved to this siding.
Many years later, Marion was sent to clear the siding for a new warehouse to be built. After nearly hitting Glynn with her shovel, she believed he was a talking Christmas tree. After telling Thomas, Annie, Clarabel, Toby and Henrietta and not being believed, she went to tell the Fat Controller. Thomas subsequently went to investigate the siding and re-discovered Glynn. He and Percy then moved him to Knapford Yards when Glynn suspected he would be scrapped if found in his current state.[16]
During another winter, Henry was accidentally sent into this siding by a set of jammed points.[17]

The Second Main Line Passing Loop[]
The Second Main Line Passing Loop is a passing loop somewhere along the Main Line between Knapford and Crovan's Gate. There is a signal box here.

- The set appears to be redressed from that of the Cow Field Passing Loop with a few changes:
- A third track is added.
- The water tower and cow field are removed.
- The signal box is moved back, now being next to the Main Line before the points leading to the loop.
- The addition of a distant arm on the signal post leading out of the siding.
- In Rosie is Red, Gordon Gets the Giggles and Thomas' Animal Friends, there is an added row of trees between the siding itself and the Main Line.
Dexter's Yard[]
Dexter's Yard is an abandoned shunting yard located somewhere on the North Western Railway.
History[]
Duck once came here hoping to find a coach to carry school children in. He found Dexter, who had been abandoned after his axles broke. Duck tried to pull him, but left him there after he found the coach to be unsuitable for work due to his condition. He later returned with Judy and Jerome to take Dexter to Harwick to be used as a substitute for the damaged school building.
