Missing Mouse! is a rebus magazine story.
Plot[]
The lost property office at the Main Station is always very busy. The Fat Controller tells the man who runs the office that he can go home early. The man's wife and son, Harry, have been shopping and came to meet him. Harry has a new pet - a little mouse called Nosey. His father takes a seat on a platform bench. Then, taking off his hat, the lost property man peers into the cage. Harry shouts out that Nosey has gone; the cage door hasn't been shut properly.
Harry hears a squeaking noise and thinks it must be Nosey, but it's only the porter's trolley with a wheel that needs oiling. Then, a lady hurries from the station waiting room. Harry thinks perhaps she's been startled by Nosey, but the lady is only hurrying to catch her train. As Harry's father goes to put his hat back on, he finds Nosey. The mouse had crawled underneath it on the bench. The Fat Controller is impressed by how quickly his staff member can reunite lost property with its owner.
