Mitchell

Mitchell, known to his friends as Mitch, is a Spitfire plane who helped win the Battle of Britain during World War II.

Biography

Thomas meets him while he is practising for a flypast to celebrate the end of the Second World War. On the day of the flyby, Mitch's engine fails and he ends up making an emergency landing in a duck pond. Mitch is rescued by Thomas and is given a few minor repairs and a fresh coat of paint. Some time later, he is invited to London to fly low over the River Thames.

Mitchell is based on a Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft.

Livery

Mitchell is painted grey and green, with Royal Air Force roundels on his wings and sides. The letters 'LCE' are also painted on his sides in white.

Trivia

Mitchell is sentient despite not being illustrationed with a face, similar to Tiger Moth.
Mitchell is named after his designer, R. J. Mitchell.
