Trivia[]

  • This book is based on the ninth series episode Thomas and the New Engine.
  • There are several notable differences between this book and the episode it is based on. These include:
    • Thomas sees Neville with 'Arry and Bert at the Docks instead of The Lumber Mill.
    • 'Arry and Bert actually bump Neville into the trucks.
    • Henrietta appears in the book, but she does not appear in the actual episode.
    • Edward is absent in the rumour.
    • The scene in which Thomas and Emily are rude to Neville takes place at Crovan's Gate instead of Abbey.
    • Toby hears about 'Arry and Bert being horrible to Neville from Salty instead of Henry. This is also the case in the Thomas' Favourite Friends segment. It is likely that this was originally going to happen in the episode but was changed in regards to the learning segment Where Can Neville Find Salty?.
  • This is the first book to feature the 2007 HiT Entertainment logo.

Goofs[]

  • Neville is falsely illustrated with grey, spoked wheels. His prototype, the Bulleid Q1, was built with "Bulleid-Firth-Brown" wheels.
  • In the foreword, Neville is referred to as a little engine, despite being a tender engine
  • 'Arry and Bert are missing the words "Sodor Ironworks" on their sides.
  • Crovan's Gate is misspelled as "Crovansgate".
