Nia's Balloon Blunder is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.
Plot[]
It is the day of the Big Train Parade on Sodor. Kana and Thomas are chatting excitedly when Nia arrives with a big train balloon which she is going to carry in the parade. Just then, Sir Topham Hatt arrives onboard Emily's train and tells Nia to be careful with the balloon as it is very windy.
Nia has a plan to get Floatie, the name she has given her balloon, to the parade without it being blown away. First she goes through the mountain pass where the tall walls will block the wind, but when she gets there, she discovers that the sides are actually very jagged and sharp. Thomas jumps up and prevents Floatie from touching the wall. Kana helps out by doing the same thing.
Next, Nia takes Floatie through the wind-free forest, but this time, the pointy tree branches are the problem. Luckily, Kana is there and she is able to clear the route using her super speed to blow the branches back and out of the way. Last of all, they take Floatie through the Tunnel of Zoom. It is a tight squeeze but with Nia pulling and Kana and Thomas pushing, they manage to get the giant balloon through.
One they are out of the tunnel, the wind starts blowing stronger than ever and snaps the balloon's string. Floatie starts to drift away, but luckily, Lookout Mountain is near and the engines decide to catch Floatie from there. Kana dashes off to fetch Carly and Sandy who have hooks to grab the string with.
Sandy and Carly arrive quickly and Sandy is able to grab ahold of Floatie. But a big gust of wind causes Sandy to take off. Carly, Thomas, Kana and Nia all grab on to Sandy to save her from floating away. Working together, they manage to get Sandy and Floatie back on the track. They arrive at Vicarstown just in time for the parade.
