"Sorry, but I have to get this stuff to Vicarstown. Time to waddle on ducks!"
― Nia

Nia and the Ducks is the second short of the Short Story Adventures series.

Plot[]

As Nia makes her way to Vicarstown while singing, she stops suddenly to avoid crashing into a family of ducks. Although she adores them initially, the ducks refuse to move out of her way, and to Nia's disappointment they make her miss her clearing as Gordon passes through with an extra long goods train. Not wanting to be delayed further, Nia attempts to make the ducks move and makes multiple noises to try and scare them off, but she succeeds to get them to fly onto her smokebox as Diesel arrives, disappointed in the delay. Gordon soon passes and the light quickly turns green, and much more impatient than Nia, Diesel honks his horn to get her to move, but instead scares her into jumping. This then sends her load of wood skywards, and while she catches half of it, the rest ends up trapping Diesel in a house-like cage. He then reveals he also has to go to Vicarstown, and is less than enthused when Nia's solution is to simply load him (still in his cage) onto her flatbed and head off to Vicarstown, but he relents after a duckling begins tickling his nose.
