The Observation Saloon Coaches are a pair of luxurious coaches built and owned by the North Western Railway. The coaches are usually reserved for enthusiast specials and pulled by the enthusiasts' chosen locomotive, one example being Bloomer.
Technical Details[]
Basis[]
The Observation Saloons do not have any known specific real world basis. Wilbert Awdry's models of them are made from heavily modified Airfix kits of a diesel railbus designed by Park Royal for British Railways. They have a likeness to Engineer's Saloon No. 41 of the Caledonian Railway.
Livery[]
The observation saloons are painted in the standard brown livery used for coaching stock on the North Western Railway. The letters 'NW' are painted on their sides in gold.
