Old Bennett is an old troublesome truck, privately owned by Bennett & Co.
Biography
Magazines
Once, the Fat Controller asked Thomas to work with Old Bennett at the canal. Thomas did not want to take him as he was known as one of the most troublesome trucks around, and had never been washed. He was being loaded with rubbish and scrap, but after a car was loaded inside him the crane operator accidentally knocked him into the water. In the end, he was rescued by a floating crane and was cleaned and given a repaint.
Technical Details
Basis
Old Bennett is based on an 8-plank open wagon with fixed ends. These wagons are often used by private owner companies to transport minerals such as coal and stone. Some of these wagons are preserved by heritage railways, such as the Bluebell Railway.[1] Fred Pelham and Rickety also share the same basis.
Livery
Old Bennett is painted grey with the words "BENNETT & CO. LTD. WAGON OWNER & AGENT" painted on his sides in black.
