- This is the final Australian VHS release.
- Copies of the 2005 UK and Irish DVD came with a booklet of the Thomas & Friends 60th Anniversary Party at Hatfield House, Hertfordshire that took place on Saturday, 4 June 2005.
- The Cargo Challenge game in the UK and Irish DVD is from the It's Great to be an Engine! US DVD with the game narrated by Tim Whitnall, who later joined the voice cast in 2014.
- Instrumental music from the beginning of Spic and Span and Thomas Saves the Day are played in the UK and Australian episode selections.
- This is one of the few Series 8 VHS/DVD releases that does not feature the Engine Roll Call music video in it, while being the only Australian release not to have the Engine Roll Call music video.
- This video marks the first of a few things:
- The first Thomas release to contain trailers and promos involving other shows (not counting Thomas and the Magic Railroad).
- The first US DVD to have computer-animated menus and features.
- The first US Thomas DVD to feature HiT Extras, which is a special Bonus Feature that features four or more episodes from other series owned by HiT Entertainment.
- A photoshopped image from Toby's Windmill is on the non-US back covers, with Toby's face changed from sad to happy.
- Thomas' large scale model from Jack and the Sodor Construction Company is used on the front cover, as indicated by the face, design of the lamp, and the hole in his running board (although it was edited out on the US cover).
- Michael Brandon narrates the menus of the US DVD.
- The 3 HiT Extras episodes featured on the US release are the same ones featured on the Barney: Ready, Set, Play! DVD except for the Barney episode "Bunches of Boxes".
- Some 2006 US copies distributed by 20th Century Fox have a white Fox logo and DVD logo and white text on it.
- In the 2009-2010 reprint, an episode of Fireman Sam is viewable. Coincidentally, this episode happens to be written by Andrew Brenner, who later became head writer for Thomas & Friends.
- The US trailer uses the original Thomas & Friends theme song.
- The episodes, songs and learning segments paired on the South African DVD are the same as when they were paired on the TV half hour format airing "Helping", despite the episode being in a different order.
- On the Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland DVD front cover, an image from Thomas and the Tuba is used, despite not being on that release.
- This is the only US DVD to feature Fish and Chicken to School.
Goofs
- In the Thomas' Storybook Adventure game:
- Thomas' wheels do not move when he leaves for Brendam Docks.
- When Thomas stops beside Mavis his wheels still move for a few seconds.
- Thomas' wheels are coloured grey when he leaves the quarry.
- Salty has chuffing sounds. His side rods are also not fully animated, and are not moving.
- Percy's lamp is not on his lamp iron.
- Thomas and Percy's lamps are on the wrong side of their running boards.
- The story claims that the station Thomas is going to is new, when it is really Knapford.
- On the back of the 2009-10 DVD, the HiT Extras are not listed, despite the reprint having a bonus Fireman Sam episode.
- On the back cover of the US DVD, Brendam is misspelt as "Brendham".
- The episodes are listed in the wrong order on the back covers of the South African and Finnish DVDs.
- One of the intermissions show Edward with Thomas' whistle.
