"I think this makes me an uncle."
― Percy

Percy's Cat! is a magazine story.

Plot[]

It is winter on the Island of Sodor and Percy is at the harbour shunting trucks. A stray black and white cat roams around the harbour and Percy's driver is very fond of it. In the evenings, the cat warms up behind Percy's boiler. His driver calls her Lucy, but to everyone else she is known as Percy's cat.

When Duck comes into the harbour yard, he comments that she is getting rather fat. Percy, though he had not noticed it before, assumes it is because of all of the scraps of fish she is finding.

Over the next few weeks, Percy notices that Lucy stays behind his boiler not only at night, but also during the day, which he puts down to the cold weather. His fireman remarks that he does not think the weather is the cause, once again mentioning her size. Percy thinks it is hardly surprising she is getting fatter as she spends all day in his cab and barely moves.

That night, Percy hears Lucy calling in a tiny voice and believes she has caught a cold. The next morning, however, Percy's driver and fireman find not only Lucy behind Percy's boiler, but six kittens as well. Percy and his driver joke that this makes him an uncle now.
