- This VHS/DVD marks the first of two things:
- The first US/CAN release under HiT Entertainment. The company itself would also later originally distribute six later videos independently; Steamies vs. Diesels, It's Great to Be an Engine!, Thomas' Sodor Celebration, Songs from the Station, Calling All Engines and Track Stars.
- The first release of Little Engines.
- This is the only release to have a horizontal/landscape booklet.
- The second and third nameboard sequences are switched around. The 14-character sequence plays after Thomas, Percy and the Squeak and the second series sequence plays after Gordon Takes a Tumble.
- The prototype 2003 cover uses a different picture of chocolate-covered Percy but lacks the promotional image from Gordon Takes a Tumble. The words "chocolate" and "crunch" are not in brown but only in yellow.
- Excluding Gordon Takes a Tumble, all the episodes on this release are exclusive.
- This is the last DVD to have the 2001 Thomas & Friends books promo.

- The VHS subtitles refer to clean as "belean" during the beginning of Percy’s Chocolate Crunch.
- "Percy's Puzzle" states that Allicia the mouse was found in Annie, but in the actual episode, she was in Clarabel.
- Because the picture of Percy on the cover was flipped, the number is incorrectly displayed backwards on the DVD.
