"Oh no, I've got to find Percy!"
― Thomas

Percy Disappears is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.

Plot[]

One bright sunny day, Thomas and Percy are on their way to Brendam Docks for a special celebration. Thomas is getting a new decal to show he has made ten-thousand deliveries. On the way, Thomas starts wondering if he has to make a speech and doesn't know what he would say. Percy suggests that Thomas can start with a joke, but Thomas isn't listening to him. As Percy is trying to tell Thomas the joke, he suddenly falls off the tracks and slides down a hill.

Thomas carries on to Brendam Docks and doesn't realise that Percy isn't with him until he arrives. Thomas sets off back down the track to find him. Back at the hill, Percy is attempting to climb back up, but the hill proves to be too steep for him, so instead he decides to follow the tracks in order to get back to the mainline. Meanwhile, Thomas has followed his tracks back to where he last saw Percy. Then, he spots a bush with a Percy shaped hole in it and bravely jumps off the tracks to find out where his friend has gone.

Up ahead, Percy follows the tracks until they come to a spooky-looking tunnel. Percy doesn't like the look of the tunnel and instead decides to splash through a muddy puddle. Thomas soon comes to the same spot and says that if he knows Percy, he knows he wouldn't have gone in the tunnel and would've splash through the mud instead. Thomas carries on using his knowledge of his friend to track Percy down. He soon hears some ducks quacking and knows Percy wouldn't be able to resist visiting the feathery friends.

At last, Thomas manages to find Percy at the Duck Pond and apologises for not listening to him earlier. The two best friends rush back to Brendam Docks for the ten-thousandth delivery celebration. Once there, Sir Topham Hatt asks Thomas if he has anything to say. Thomas says that Percy has a joke to tell instead. Percy then tells everyone that they won't want to hear his sheep joke, because it is very "baaaaad".
