Peter Sam, re-titled Peter Sam the Friendly Engine in 2011, is the twenty-fourth book of the My Thomas Story Library series.
Plot
Peter Sam's old funnel has not been the same since his accident with some trucks. After an icicle knocks his funnel off, he has to use a drainpipe. When his funnel comes, he initially hates it because it looks like someone had sat on it. However, it makes work easier for him.

- Throughout the book, Peter Sam's cab hand rails disappear and reappear.
