Polly Churchill was an episode writer for Thomas & Friends. She wrote for numerous other children's shows over the years, including "Rubbadubbers", "Bob the Builder", "Dramarama", "Sydney Sailboat", "Topsy and Tim", "Postman Pat", "Chuggington", "The Hoobs", "Jim Jam and Sunny" and "Waybuloo". She was also the head writer for "Teacup Travels".

She also wrote three radio plays for BBC Radio 4 and 5, and filmed her short film "Arms of an Angel", which was selected by the BBC Short Film Festival.

She died of ovarian cancer on 27 June 2018.
