Pop Goes Old Ollie is a song sung by S.C. Ruffey and the other trucks to taunt Oliver after his accident in the turntable well. It was sung in The Railway Series story, Toad Stands By. Just like "Pop Goes the Diesel", the name and melody of this song are based on the children song "Pop Goes the Weasel". The song was used in the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends adaption, following the same premise.

Lyrics

The Railway Series version

Oliver's no use at all;
Thinks he's very clever.
Says that he can manage us;
That's the best joke ever!
When he orders us about,
With the greatest folly,
We just push him down the well!
Pop goes Old Ollie!

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends version

Oliver is no use at all;
He thinks he's very clever.
He says that he can manage us;
That's the best joke ever!
When he orders us about,
With the greatest folly,
We just push him down the well!...
Pop goes Old Ollie!

Trivia

  • The lyrics reference "Resource and Sagacity", which was adapted into "Oliver Owns Up" for Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends.
  • In the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends adaption, the voices of the trucks are Junior Campbell's voice but one octave higher.
  • In both English dubs of the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends adaption, the narrator sings the lyrics from the The Railway Series version of the song while the trucks sing the lyrics from the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends version.
