- "Fizzling fireboxes! I wanted to pull the Puppet Show Special on my own, Now look what I've done. The children won't have ice cream or flags, and they won't have their puppet show. Help!"
- ― Skarloey after falling into the pond
Push Me, Pull You is the nineteenth episode of the twelfth series.
Plot
One day at the Skarloey coal yard, a yard manager tells Skarloey that a puppet show is coming, and he wants to pull the puppet show special. When he arrives at the Transfer Yards, he asks the Thin Controller if he can take the puppet show special. The Thin Controller agrees to the idea. Skarloey is warned by Thomas that it is heavy, though Skarloey does not listen. He is coupled up and sets off.
When Rheneas sees Skarloey, he notes that the train is too heavy for one engine. Skarloey, however, refuses his offer to help and instead decides for them to engage in a tug-of-war with the train in the middle to determine who is stronger. But Rheneas' coupling breaks and Skarloey speeds away. He goes down the hill very fast. He tries to brake, but they have become faulty. Then he sees Duncan shunting trucks of bunting. Skarloey shouts for Duncan to stop, but it is too late. He crashes into Duncan's trucks and bunting flies into the air and lands on both engines. While Duncan is cross, Skarloey hurriedly leaves with the puppet train.
As Skarloey hurries along with his train, he sees Rusty and his ice cream crossing a junction. He shouts for Rusty to move, but he mishears Skarloey, stops in the middle of the junction, and Skarloey accidentally crashes into his ice cream trucks, despite applying his brakes. Ice cream flies in the air and lands on both engines, making Rusty cross. Meanwhile, Skarloey speeds on his way, but goes round a bend too fast and veers into a siding before falling into Percival Pond. Skarloey feels terrible as he has caused two accidents in one day. He calls out for help and Rheneas comes.
Rheneas pulls Skarloey out of the pond, then takes the train while Skarloey sorts out the mess he had made; he gets new trucks of ice cream for Rusty and helps to take Duncan's trucks of bunting for him. The two engines soon arrive in time for the puppet show and Skarloey states that Rheneas is his best friend.

Goofs
- The US title card is missing a comma in the title.
- Skarloey's CGI nose is bigger than the model one.
- Rusty's face changes size during this episode.
- When Skarloey is going up the hill, one of the trucks bounces as it goes over the points.
- Steam vents from the ground in the close-up of Rheneas' wheels when he is coupled to the puppet show train.
- Skarloey is said to crash into Duncan because his brakes don't work, but his wheels are not moving with him sliding along during the crash, likely due to model limitations.
- Duncan's CGI face mask is visible while Skarloey leaves after crashing into Duncan's train.
- When Skarloey crashes into Rusty's ice cream trucks, he also bumps into Rusty and the ice cream flies low, but the next shot shows the ice cream flying very high (more clearly in the extended scene in Skarloey's flashback).
- Some of the ice cream droplets fall behind Skarloey's face, due to the CGI face being overlaid into the footage.
- Skarloey appears to be smiling when he is on the points puffing straight towards Percival Pond.
- When Skarloey crashes into Percival Pond, some of his trucks derail, but in a later scene, they are all straight.
- Skarloey’s mouth stops moving before the flashback scene while he says “The children won’t have ice-cream or flags, and they won’t have their puppet show.”
- When Skarloey says "Help!", his tracker can be seen and the water in Percival Pond instantly stops rippling when he hears Rheneas coming.
- Skarloey moves forwards to tell Rheneas that he is his best friend, but in the last scene, Skarloey has gone back to his original position.
