Biography[]

When Smudger continually derailed and shrugged off all the advice he was given from Duke, the manager decided to turn him into a generator behind Duke's Shed. The manager later arranged for Falcon to double-head a passenger train with Duke on the Mountain Road, which nearly resulted in disaster after Falcon derailed. Luckily, no harm was done and the manager later apologised to the passengers for the incident

After the Mid Sodor Railway closed due to the engines having little work to do, the manager sold Stuart and Falcon to the Skarloey Railway.

The manager was later in charge of the Bluebell Railway. He told Rusty's driver that he would make a home for a "Bluebell Engine" if they found one. After Rusty saved Stepney from scrap, the manager promised to repair Stepney and give him a new coat of paint. He later arranged for Stepney to visit Sir Topham Hatt's engines.

The Mainland Controllers are in charge of the various railways on the Mainland. Mr. Peters is one of them, being the controller of the West Somerset Railway.

Biography[]

According to Percy, Charlie was the favourite engine of his former controller on the Mainland.[3]

Magazines[]

When Sir Topham Hatt went on holiday, a Mainland director ran the railway. Daisy knew the director before coming to Sodor and knew he could be quite strict. When the director arrived, he tried to make the railway more efficient after reading the timetables, however, this only caused the engines to be late.[4]

Sir Topham Hatt once swapped jobs with a Mainland controller for a week, to see how other railways can be run. While on Sodor, the Mainland controller switched the engines' jobs and gave them more work throughout the day; he had James and Daisy shunt coal trucks, Donald and Douglas deliver china clay, Bill and Ben pull the Express, Gordon deliver scrap, Thomas work at Ffarquhar Quarry and Toby pull Annie and Clarabel.[5]

When Diesel broke down, Mr. Peters gave him a chance to stay and prove he can be a really useful engine. Mr. Peters also agreed to fix Diesel's engine, and both he and Sir Topham Hatt praised Thomas for his efforts during his visit to the railway.
