"Ahh, roller coasters are the best."
"Yeah, if you like screaming!"
― Kana and Percy

Roller Coasting is the twenty-fifth episode of the first series.

Plot[]

One summer morning, Thomas and Percy are staring in awe at the new carnival on Sodor. Thomas is very excited about the big rollercoaster and shows Percy all of the different features, before Nia and Kana join them. They all watch the rollercoaster together, before Percy says that he is afraid of the coaster. Percy explains that he likes watching them from afar, and not up close, and definitely not on the coaster. Thomas, Nia, and Kana reassure him that everyone is afraid a little. Each of them share something they are afraid of, while Percy has a lot of things he finds scary. So, Thomas, Nia, and Kana start their journey around the Island to show Percy that some things aren't as scary as he thinks.

At The Maintenance Yard, the trains head to the Obstacle Course, where Thomas points out that the course is a roller coaster of their own. Percy is still scared though, with him pointing out some hills are too steep, the turns are too sharp, and the loop is too high. So, Nia suggests starting out smaller. The trains head to a steep hill, where they reassure Percy that everything is okay when they go up the hill with him. After racing down the hillside, Percy realizes that the hill was scary, but fun! Next, the trains head to The Funnel Tunnel, where Percy is confused about Kana's light being on, when the tunnel is supposed to be scary. Kana then turns her light off, Thomas' light flickers on and off, and Percy is scared out of his mind. Once again, Percy realizes that the experience was fun, and not as scary as he thought.

The trains then travel to Cannonball Curve, where they speed down the mountain so Percy can have the full experience of a rollercoaster. To prepare Percy for the Loop de Loop, the trains take him to Brendam Docks, where Cranky spins Percy around and around on his crane hook. Finally, the trains go to the Loop, but when all four of them hook up together, their weight doesn't allow them to all do the loop at once. So, Percy, feeling as brave as ever, heads up the Loop de Loop, and completes it. And now, Percy is no longer afraid of rollercoasters.
