Rotten Buffers is a magazine story.
Plot[]
Diesel can usually been seen bumping his trucks around. The trucks always feel uncomfortable with this and wish any other engine was pulling them while also trying to bump Diesel back.
One day, Diesel is backing some trucks into a harbour siding very fast. Duck warns him to mind his speed but Diesel insists the buffers will stop the trucks. The buffers do stop the trucks but very roughly and the trucks groan but Diesel just laughs.
In the afternoon, Duck and Diesel see some men and the stationmaster walking around the harbour yard. Duck wonders what they are doing but Diesel says to pay no mind. Diesel leaves, leading Duck to see the men inspecting some buffers and hearing the words "Rot" and "Replacements".
A sign is later placed near the sidings reading "DANGER! DEAD SLOW!" and Duck tries to inform Diesel about it but Diesel just ignores him. Diesel once again races backwards into a siding but this time, the buffers do not stop the trucks properly and they crash right through them and derail.
