Ryusei (Japanese: リュウセイ) is a high-speed maglev from Japan who runs on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Track.
Technical Details[]
Basis[]
Ryusei is based on an L0 series Maglev. This is a high-speed maglev being developed and tested by Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). In particular, Ryusei is based on the L22-951 lead car built by Hitachi, Ltd. in 2020 as an improved version of the L0 series.
The L0 series uses a maglev system called SCMaglev, developed by JR Central and the Railway Technical Research Institute. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi, Ltd. and Nippon Sharyo, a subsidiary of JR Central, are building sixteen pre-production vehicles. JR Central plans to use the L0 series on the Chūō Shinkansen line between Tokyo and Osaka, which is currently under construction.
Livery[]
Ryusei is painted white with dark blue stripes.
Appearances[]
Trivia[]
- Ryusei's face placement is unconventional by the franchise's standards, as it not only replaces the cab's front window, but is slanted at an extreme upward angle. This is due to the fact that, unlike Kenji, whose basis has a rounded nose where a face could easily be placed, Ryusei's basis has no such area for a Thomas-styled face, and the front window of his basis is fitted with a forward-facing camera for remote running, with his own eyes as its counterpart.
