Salty's Sea Shanty is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.
Plot[]
One day at Brendam Docks, Salty shares a sea shanty with Thomas and Percy all about pirate treasure that's hidden somewhere on Sodor. From the lyrics, Thomas and Percy decipher that they must first go to Lookout Mountain. From atop the mountain, Percy looks through the telescope for a "tower of stone" which is referenced in the second line of Salty's shanty. Percy keeps looking until he spots Rolf's Castle. They race there to uncover the second next clue.
At the castle, they think of the next clue which tells them to "stand in a place where the sun has shown". The sun is shining at the Dark Woods on a map of the island. Thomas and Percy head through the woods. They know they are on the right track, but they are both scared to be so deep in the woods. Eventually, they find a cave with an entrance blocked by a huge rock. The rock moves aside when Percy rolls over a hidden button on the track.
Thomas and Percy cautiously enter the cave and get a big fright when they hear a voice singing the sea shanty coming towards them. Luckily, it's only Salty who has followed the two engines into the woods. The three friends travel further into the cave and soon discover a pool as mentioned in the shanty. They all gaze into the blue pool, but they cannot see any treasure. Salty is disappointed and rolls away. Thomas, still staring at the pool, notices his own reflection and thinks that maybe their friendship is the priceless prize as mentioned in the song. Percy agrees and they both think that the adventure they've been on is better than any treasure could be. Salty then reappears pushing a truck full of real treasure. Percy concludes that they've found two kinds of treasure - friendship treasure and treasure treasure!
