Trivia

  • This was the last original US VHS to feature the Gullane Entertainment logo. However, Trust Thomas and Other Stories and Thomas, Percy and the Dragon and Other Stories were re-released with new VHS covers in early 2003 with the Gullane logo on the cover.
  • This marks the first of three things:
    • The first US DVD to be authored by Crest Digital.
    • The first time the shed illustrations are used for the DVD menu.
    • The first release of the music video, James the Really Splendid Engine.
  • Salty's Secret Songs was an audio cassette tape included with some VHS releases. It featured the following songs:
    1. Thomas' Anthem
    2. Down by the Docks
    3. James the Really Splendid Engine
    4. Gone Fishing
  • This US VHS/DVD was released on the same day Jack Jumps In first aired in the UK.
  • A slimcase release of the DVD was introduced in 2005, with a bonus wooden railway toy. It was later released in a slimcase again by Lionsgate under the title, Harvey to the Rescue. However, Canadian 2009 thick case releases retain the original title.
  • On the Amazon and VUDU digital releases, the title card shows Harvey to the Rescue.
  • This is the only US DVD to feature all episodes (excluding The Fogman and A Bad Day for Harold), and the only 2002 release to feature Series 6 episodes.
  • This is also the only US VHS/DVD to feature episodes from the sixth series with the Gullane Entertainment logo. In releases following this, they would be shown with the HiT Entertainment logo.
  • Unlike most US Thomas DVDs, the 2002 release cuts straight to the main menu after the Gullane Entertainment logo without a preview for other VHS tapes and DVDs at the start.
  • Since the DVD has the music video as a bonus feature separate from the main menu, there is an extra nameboard sequence after Elizabeth the Vintage Quarry Truck before the website card and end credits.
  • The Gullane Entertainment endboard on this VHS/DVD features the Gullane logo popping out into view rather than fading in.

Goofs

  • On the front cover, Salty's eyes are wonky.
  • On the Maple Pictures DVD back cover, the bonus features list 12 Page Commemorative Booklet, but the re-releases do not have any inserts.
  • James the Really Splendid Engine song was listed on the Our Story Stops Are section on the DVD back cover, despite it being a song.
  • At the end of Meet Thomas' New Friends, the track is visible.
  • On the DVD menu, Salty is making puffing and whistling noises, and his accent is completely different.
  • Although Thomas' Gallery and Meet Thomas' New Friends appear on the DVD, they are not listed on the DVD back cover.
