Thomas the Tank Engine Wiki
The Railway Series

"Engines on the Other Railway aren't safe now. Their Controllers are cruel. They don't like engines any more. They put them on cold damp sidings, and then," Percy nearly sobbed "they... they c-c-cut them up."
― Percy

The Scrap Engines were steam engines from the Other Railway, which Percy once mentioned to Douglas. Following dieselisation, Percy was dismayed to hear many fine steam engines were being cut up. Later, during his stay, Stepney mentioned being among lines of scrap engines to Edward.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

The exact basis of the engines featured in the illustration, if they have any at all, is currently unknown. Their fates, however, are inspired by that which befell many of British Railways' steam locomotives during the 1960s under the Modernisation Plan.

Liveries[]

The liveries of the engines featured in the illustration are unknown, as they are shown to be covered in rust, though it is known that they had red bufferbeams. It is highly likely - based on their sizes - that these engines were at one point painted in standard British Railways unlined black livery.
