- "Not fast enough, Bruno!"
"Gimme a brake! Get it?"
"'Cos he's a brake car! Good one!" - ― Diesel, Bruno and Percy playing Train Tag
Shake, Rattle and Bruno! is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.
Plot[]
It is a bright sunny day on Sodor and Bruno is looking at a map of the island which has a flashing warning sign over Crumble Canyon due to rock slides. The engines are racing up and down playing Train Tag and they ask Bruno if he wants to join in. Bruno joins the game, but he is unable to catch Diesel. Just then, Gordon arrives pulling a new light for the lighthouse above Vicarstown. He needs someone strong and fast to get it there before nightfall and asks Diesel and Bruno to take it.
Diesel asks Bruno which is the fastest route to Vicarstown. Diesel decides to go through Crumble Canyon, despite Bruno's warnings about the rock slides. Thomas overhears their conversation and decides to follow them.
As Diesel and Bruno reach Crumble Canyon, Diesel speeds up and Bruno slams on his brakes. The noise they make causes a rock slide. Thomas, who is still following, manages to stop just in time. He peeps through a hole in the rocks to see Diesel and Bruno are stuck and goes for help.
Diesel tries to push the rocks aside, but they won't budge. Bruno has an idea; the rocks fell when they were making lots of noise. So if they make noise again, perhaps the rocks will fall off the tracks. It works and the rocks tumble off the line, leaving a path for Diesel and Bruno to pass through. Thomas, Sandy and Carly arrive and ask how Diesel and Bruno got out of their predicament. Bruno explains and suggests they play another game of Train Tag.
