Sheep Shenanigans is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.
Plot[]
One snowy spring day, the engines are surprised to find a lost little sheep at Tidmouth Sheds. It is very cold, so the sheep snuggles up to Diesel to keep warm. Percy names the sheep Monica, but Diesel isn't sure he wants Monica snuggling up against him. He agrees to let her stay for the night and he will take her back to McColl Farm first thing the following morning.
The next morning, Diesel sets off to McColl Farm with Monica. Gordon has a large box he needs Diesel to deliver. Diesel agrees to do it after dropping off Monica. At the farm, Diesel leaves Monica with the rest of the sheep and warns her not to get herself lost again. When Diesel returns to the shed that evening, he is surprised to find Monica is back with lots of other sheep. Thomas jokes that they can have a "sheep over".
The next day, Diesel and Percy take Monica and the other sheep back to the farm. They go into the barn to find out why the sheep do not want to stay there overnight. Even though they see a heater, Diesel thinks the barn is very cold. The sheep keep returning to Diesel's shed each night in greater and greater numbers. Soon, he is surrounded by sheep. It's not long before the other engines have had enough; the sheep are noisy and prevent the engines from getting a good night's sleep.
The engines get so tired that they go to Gordon with their sheep problem. Gordon suggests that the sheep may be cold and that he had asked Diesel to deliver a large box containing a new heater for the barn days ago. Gordon takes the new heater to McColl Farm and the other engines help Diesel take the sheep back to the barn. Monica doesn't want Diesel to go, but Diesel says he's not going anywhere and it's now his turn to "sheep over" at their place. So, that night, Diesel sleeps in the barn with his woolly friends.
