Signal Boxes are where the Signalmen work. Here, they control the points, point locks, signals, level crossing gates and occasionally movable bridges using levers located in what is known as a lever frame.
Levers in signal boxes are coloured according to their function:
- Red levers control home signals.
- Yellow levers control distant signals.
- Black levers control points.
- Blue levers control point locks.
- Brown levers control gate locks.
- White levers are spares.
