- “Perishing pistons!”
- ― Gordon
Snow Tracks is the seventeenth episode of the thirteenth series.
Plot
A snowstorm has covered Sodor, and Gordon is told to take trucks needed for an important coal delivery to Brendam Docks and Thomas, to take firewood to all the stations. The Fat Controller tells Gordon to go the long way because of how slippery the snow is, though Gordon thinks of himself as special and strong and decides to take the shorter, hilly route. He is able to get up the first hill he comes across, but he slips down the other side very quickly, spraying Spencer with snow.
Gordon comes across another hill which is harder and attempts to also go over it. He is successful, but the snow gets into his face and he accidentally crashes into some slate trucks in a siding while going down the other side. Gordon still tries to go on, even though the snow is very deep, when he approaches his hill. Gordon also tries to climb it and is determined to get over it, all the while Thomas is following behind with his trucks. Unfortunately, Gordon inadvertently creates a giant snowball that starts to roll back and smashes into Thomas who derails.
Gordon apologises for what he has done and tries to get Thomas back on the rails himself, but he is unable to and so he brings Rocky over from the docks, delivering his trucks and getting cleaned in the process, to put Thomas back on the rails. Having delivered the coal, Gordon then helps Thomas deliver the firewood to all the stations. That night, Gordon announces that no engine is special, and they are all the best.

Goofs
- When Gordon puffs up to apologise to Thomas, the track Gordon is on is not ploughed as his wheels are seen morphing through the snow. After the narrator says, "Gordon steamed slowly to Thomas," the positions of Gordon's siderods change.
- The yellow signal is red; but that type of signal is only fitted with yellow and green lamps.
- At Maron, the workmen are called stationmasters.
- The narrator says Thomas and his truck of firewood were lifted high in the air and derailed, but Thomas is pulling two trucks and only Thomas is lifted up.
- In Mark Moraghan's re-narration of the episode, Thomas' cry for help as the snowball is about to crash into him is omitted.
- When Thomas reverses into a siding, the points do not change when Gordon carries onto the main line.
