Two different types of portable library vans have appeared working for the Sodor Mobile Library throughout the Thomas & Friends magazine stories.
Sodor Mobile Library (1992)[]
Sodor Mobile Library is a portable library van. It has a bookshelf inside it with many books, and brings books to the farms and villages across the Island of Sodor.
Biography[]
Once the Sodor Mobile Library broke down at the crossing on Thomas' Branch Line. A breakdown lorry was soon brought to tow the Sodor Mobile Library to a garage. While it was being repaired, Annie and Clarabel's seats were modified to host bookshelves for Thomas to transport the mobile library along his branch line so any of his passengers could borrow books if they liked.

Once Sodor Mobile Library fell into a ditch, though Harvey managed to pull it out. However, it broke down and could not go anywhere. The driver told Elizabeth who passed by and told her what happened. She helped out by towing it down the street and the driver gave Elizabeth a special thanks by reading her stories.
