While this quarry shares its set design with Ffarquhar Quarry in the later CGI series, it is likely that the slate quarry's set design was erroneously carried over to Ffarquhar Quarry and the two were originally intended to be separate, as it is notably different from that consistently used for Ffarquhar Quarry from the eighth to eleventh series. Additionally, in the sixth series, the slate quarry uses a completely different set from Center Island (Ffarquhar) Quarry in the same series.
Since Thomas and Diesel bashed 'Arry and Bert through the back of the shed in the twelfth series episode Don't Go Back, it now has rails running straight through it.
On an earlier version of Sam Wilkinson's map from 2014, the quarry was located just south of the Blue Mountain Quarry on the northern slope of Shane Dooiney, along a spur of the Peel Godred Branch Line. This was retconned to its current location by the time of the Mark 11 version of the map.
