These Soft-Side Lorries are the most commonly used lorries on the Island of Sodor.
They have been known to transport dairy products from the farms and stone from the quarries. Some of them have covered bed sides and can transport items that cannot be exposed to the outside. Once, two of them were transporting water tanks that were attached to a hose to wash the engines.

The soft-side lorries are painted in different liveries, such as red, blue, grey, and yellow.
The original soft-side lorries that appeared between the first and fifth series, originally had cargo-beds matching the rest of their body. These were updated in the sixth series with wooden cargo-bedsides.

Sodor Soft Side Truck: The Soft Side Truck carries farm, market garden and a variety of produce around the Island of Sodor.
Historical Note: The Soft Side Truck is based on designs by Austin, Dodge and Leyland from the 1940s and 1950s, which was once a common sight on our roads.
A red soft-side lorry is on display at Drayton Manor.
The blue soft-side lorry did not originally have headlights, until the sixth series.
The Ertl Company refers to the lorry as the "Sodor Soft Side Truck". Whereas, the Wooden Railway merchandise refers to it as the "Crosby Station Cargo Truck".
These Long-Bed Lorries are smaller than the standard Soft-Side Lorries, however they have a more extended bed and wheelbase. They appeared between the fourth and sixth series of the television series.

The pickup trucks are based on designs by Austin, Dodge and Leyland from the 1940s and 1950s.
Livery[]
These pickup trucks are commonly painted red. The original model had a red cargo-bed, however this was updated with a wooden cargo-bed design in the fourth series.
Blue, orange-brown, green, cream, dark grey, and bronze lorries have also been seen. A multi-coloured pickup truck was later introduced in Big World! Big Adventures!
During production of the third series, one of the sides of the red cargo-bed on the original model broke off and it would remain that way until the end of the third series, where it received a new wooden cargo-bed design in the fourth series.
6-wheeler Lorries[]
The 6-wheeler Lorries are lorries that appear various books.
The Sodor Bakery lorry is painted brown with a cream cargo-bed and black fenders. It has its logo written in dark green and orange lettering on the cargo-bed's sides.
