Trivia
- This VHS was the first home media release worldwide to use the current Thomas & Friends logo on the front cover, though it was first seen on the back cover of Let's Sing Thomas Songs Together Vol.1 in Japan.
- This is the first release to have patterns nameboard sequences with the Series 1 nameboards after the first and fourth episodes, the Series 4 nameboards after the second and fifth episodes and the Series 2 nameboards after the third and sixth episodes.
- This is the last release of a few things:
- The last US DVD to feature the Thomas & Friends VHS promo from 2001.
- The last release to feature Duke, Rheneas and Rusty's nameboard sequences.
- The last US/Canadian VHS to use a promotional image of Thomas from Saved from Scrap on the spine, though that image was still used on the back covers of Anchor Bay Entertainment's VHS releases through New Friends for Thomas and Other Adventures in 2004. The image on the spine was later replaced by a cartoon Thomas by Coatimundi Studios.
- The last VHS captioned by the National Captioning Institute, as well as the only one after Daisy and Other Thomas Stories captioned by them.
- This marks the only release of a few things:
- The only US/Canadian DVD to feature Night Train.
- The only US/Canadian VHS/DVD to feature Stepney Gets Lost and Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday.
- On the front cover, the image from Rusty and the Boulder is mirrored.
- Speaking of Rusty and the Boulder, after the episode, the Series 4 nameboards have a pause before they play normally. The pause wasn't used after Haunted Henry.
- Some sticker-labeled blue cassette US VHS copies as well as all Canadian HGV Video Productions-labeled VHS copies feature a Thomas and the Magic Railroad teaser trailer narrated by Eric Idle after the FBI Warning logo and before the main feature.
- On the DVD, Night Train does not have sing-along lyrics.
- If the whole DVD is played automatically, the Songs and Character Gallery will play after. This also happens on Cranky Bugs, Races Rescues and Runaways, Best of Percy and Best of James (with the exception of the Character Gallery for the latter two), the former two of which are also Series 5 releases.
- On the 2015 Double Feature DVD release with New Friends for Thomas and Other Adventures, both the menu intro and Web Fun are removed.
- The image of Harold on the cover was reused for the 2003 VHS and 2006 DVD releases of Thomas Gets Bumped and Other Stories.
Goofs
- Trevor's nameboard is cut out during the third and last intermission on both the VHS and DVD releases.
- The audio is slightly out-of-sync on the DVD.
- The back cover says that Thomas helps lead a lost Stepney back to safety but it was the Fat Controller who helped him.
