Streamlining is the second song featured in The Great Race.

Lyrics

Thomas: Caitlin! What if I was streamlined like Caitlin? Streamlining makes engines much faster!
Annie and Clarabel: (laugh) Silly Thomas!
Clarabel: Whoever heard of a streamlined --
Annie and Clarabel: Whoa!!!
Thomas:
All I want is a bit of redefining
A slinky, slicker, swifter coat that's smooth and shining
To get the speed I really need...
Streamlining!
Whoosh!
You'll wonder who was passing through
Whoosh!
You won't believe it's even true
Whoosh!
But all you'll see of me will be...
A shiny streak of racing blue!
I've come to you, my friend
As I need some redesigning
To be a tank engine is so confining
Give me the curves I deserve...
Streamlining!
Wo-how!
(gasps) Amazing!
Wow!
I love it!
Whoosh!
You'll wonder who was passing through (Annie and Clarabel: Passing through)
Whoosh!
You won't believe it's even true (Annie and Clarabel: Even true)
Whoosh!
But all you'll see of me will be... (Annie and Clarabel: Do, do, do-do)
A shiny streak of racing blue!
Annie and Clarabel:
(Go, Thomas, go)
(Go, Thomas, go)
All I want is a little redefining (Annie and Clarabel: Do, do-do-do)
But certain other engines might need reconsigning (Annie and Clarabel: Do, do-do-do)
I'll get a shape that makes 'em gape (Annie and Clarabel: Do, do-do-do)
(Go, Thomas, go)
I'll have the curves that I deserve (Annie and Clarabel: Do, do-do-do)
(Go, Thomas, go)
I'll get the speed I really need... (Annie and Clarabel: Do, do-do-do)
(Go, Thomas, go)
Streamlining!
Whoa-whoa-whoaaaaa!!!

  • On the DVD, Digital Download, the Nick Jr airing and the theatrical version, Annie and Clarabel's screams before arriving at the Steamworks are absent but are present in the PBS broadcast.
  • At the end of the song, the way the school children dance is a reference to Peanuts; The school boy dances like 555, and the school girl dances like Violet.

Goofs
