- "Woah! Can't... let... dirt... get on... the screen!"
- ― Nia avoiding the dirt
Super Screen Cleaners, also simply known as Screen Cleaners, is the nineteenth episode of the first series.
Plot[]
Thomas and Percy are reenacting the ending scene from Thomas' favorite movie, "Ultratrain". However, the two engines are disappointed that they don't know whether or not Ultratrain made the ultimate leap across the canyon and stopped the evil Trainiac. Just then, Nia arrives to tell Thomas and Percy that their wait for the next Ultratrain movie is over, as she is carrying a movie screen to Vicarstown to show the Ultratrain movie, making Thomas and Percy ecstatic. Percy races away to collect the movie projector from the Mail Depot, almost splashing some mud on Nia's screen. Nia explains that she can't let the screen get dirty, or else nobody would be able to watch the movie. Thomas offers to come with Nia so he can protect the screen from any danger like a true super train. Nia agrees, and the two engines set off for Vicarstown.
On the way, the two engines face trouble, James is pulling an extremely Troublesome Truck, who tries to splash Nia's screen with dirt. Thomas leaps out in front of Nia to block the mud, and spots a switch in front of the tunnel ahead. Thomas uses his super speed to get to the switch, and send Nia down a different track. Unfortunately, the track he sends her down is very bumpy track, which causes her screen to become dislodged from its flatbed, and fly into the air. Luckily, Thomas manages to catch it just in time. As the two engines carry on, they approach the Level Crossing. With his ‘ultra-vision’, Thomas spots a mud patch ahead, and orders Nia to stop at once. They manage to stop just in time, but then, Diesel rushes by, splashing mud towards the screen. Thomas manages to leap out in front of the mud just before it hits Nia's screen. But not all is well for long, as Kana zooms past, splashing mud all over the screen. The two engines are very disappointed when they see the ruined screen, but then Nia has an idea. Using water from the water tower, they can wash the mud off of the screen. Unfortunately, this causes the mud splotch to turn into a smear, but using their ‘super’ steam, Thomas and Nia manage to blow the smear off of the screen. That is… until Kana whooshes past again, splashing even more mud onto the screen. This leaves Thomas and Nia with no choice, but to carry on to Vicarstown.
By nightfall, Percy arrives at Vicarstown with the movie projector, and Thomas and Nia arrive with the screen. The three engines aren't the only ones upset about the screen being covered with mud, Sir Topham Hatt is also incredibly distraught by the sight of the ruined screen. Thomas suggests that maybe they can still see the movie through the mud, to which Sir Topham Hatt begrudgingly agrees. With the screen in position, Sir Topham Hatt switches on the projector, praying that he, the engines, and the audience can still see the movie. Unfortunately, half the screen is still covered up by the mud, disappointing everyone. Nia accuses herself of ruining movie night, but Thomas reassures her that they just had bad luck, and that he really isn't a super train. Thomas lets out a sad puff of steam, which manages to show the movie through the mud. So using his ‘super’ steam, Thomas blows smoke all over the screen, revealing the movie. Thomas learns that he doesn't need to have superpowers to be a hero, he just has to be himself.

- Thomas has his US voice when he is copying Ultratrain's dialogue during the movie.
- The US credits are mistakenly used.
- Percy incorrectly calls his whistle a horn in one scene, despite him being a steam engine.
- On the RTÉ Player, the episode image was of the original series episode, Gordon Gets the Giggles, and the '2510a' was beside the episode title. This was also the case with every episode from Counting Cows onwards.
