- "I try to teach them our ways,"
"All ship-shape and Swindon fashion. That's right." - ― Duck talking to City of Truro
Swindon is a town in Wiltshire, England, and the location of Swindon Works.
History[]
In 1894, a young Topham Hatt was apprenticed at Swindon Works at the age of 14. It was here that he struck up a friendship with fellow apprentice William A. Stanier.[1] According to rumours at Crovan's Gate Works, Hatt on at least one occasion - perhaps more - helped Stanier escape the consequences of what might have been a serious scrape, which was how he convinced Stanier to later take on the task of rebuilding Henry at Crewe.[2]
When City of Truro visited Sodor in 1957, he mentioned Swindon while talking to Duck.[3]
