Henry's Magic Box was written by Sharon Miller who wrote many more episodes afterwards. This is the first episode to be written by a producer since the twelfth series episode Don't Go Back.

- This is the first and only episode set in China not to feature Hong-Mei in any way.
- This is the only episode of the twenty-fourth series to be set in China.
- Thus, this also marks Yong Bao and Lei's only appearances in the twenty-fourth series.

- In the last two shots of Yong Bao saving the Big Mean Engine, his wheels are not moving.

Yong Bao's voice actor[]
This is actually the only episode where he is voiced by Chris Lew Kum Hoi. It’s been confirmed that Thomas will not be traveling the world in the reboot.
