Background Information[]
Terence is a fictional caterpillar tractor created by the Rev. W. Awdry.
Terence made his debut in the second series episode, Hay Fort Frenzy, which first aired in 2023 and made his final appearance in the 2025 special, Sodor Sings Together.
Compared to the original series, All Engines Go portrays Terence explicitly as a child-like character, a depiction reinforced by the changes made to his facial features.
Behind the Scenes[]
2D animated rigs[]
Terence in All Engines Go uses a series of complicated 2D rigs created by Nelvana Studio. These rigs are made up of different assets, which can be stretched, squashed and posed to create the desired movements and poses. Terence's movements are handled by an animation team, with a posing team to create specific poses as required for certain shots.
Terence's 2D design has undergone many changes from the design used in the original series:
- His face has been completely redesigned:
- His chin is now much bigger.
- He now has orange irises.
- His nose is smaller.
- His face is shorter in height.
- The bottom half of his radiator cap is now grey.
- His rollers, toolboxes and the frames around his engine are now a darker shade of orange than the rest of his body.
- His driver's seat has been replaced by an orange block.
- His plough is permanently attached to him persumably so he can use it like hands like how the engines use their wheels since Terence can't use his wheels as they are a part of his treads.

In addition to his standard livery, several other decoration variants exist of Terence's 2D model. Many only appeared once, though a few were reused multiple times. These decoration variants include:
