The American Diesels are two diesel engines who live and work in the United States.
Biography[]
One of these diesels was seen pulling a goods train through Arizona, where she nearly collided with Thomas, Ace and Nia when they were rolling backwards down the Morenci Loop. Nia apologised to her, but the diesel reassured her that she was fine before the engines then set off again and parted ways.
Two diesels were later seen pulling and shunting trucks at San Francisco Docks. It is unclear whether or not one of them was the same one Thomas, Ace and Nia met. [1]

Basis[]
The American Diesels are based on the Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 diesel shunter which worked at the Manchester Ship Canal. No. 4002 Arundel Castle, affectionately known as "Billy", is preserved in working order by the East Lancashire Railway Diesel Group. Sister locomotive No. 4001 Alnwick Castle is also preserved as a static non-operational exhibit at the Winfields Store site at Rising Bridge. Frankie is also based on a Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 diesel shunter.

Trivia[]
- The models of the American Diesels are a modified version of Frankie's CGI Model.
- One of the American diesels shares the same horn sound as Mavis' current horn, and Diesel's horn from Misty Island Rescue up to the fourteenth series.
- Smoke is shown coming out of her sides instead of her funnel whenever she stops and goes. This same issue goes with other diesels that have something like this or even an exhaust pipe, like Ivan, Frankie & Shankar.
- The diesel which Thomas and Nia meet on the Morenci Loop is the last female engine to be introduced who does not wear eyeliner.
- None of the American Diesels resemble real-life American Diesel Locomotives.
