The Apple Pickers is a magazine story.
Plot[]
It is a bright day on Sodor and The Fat Controller tasks Thomas with picking up a group of apple pickers and bring them to the orchard. Thomas is very excited about this job.
Thomas soon arrives at the orchard and is amazed by all of the apples looking bright red on the trees. The farmer gives the apple pickers ladders to stand against the trees and baskets to put all of the apples in. Thomas thinks this looks like great fun and wishes he could join in. Thomas is just about to leave when one apple pickers points out a tree with a branch right above the railway that they cannot reach. The farmer states it would be a waste to not pick them, but Thomas gets an idea.
Everyone watches as Thomas rolls under the branch and his driver climbs onto the cab roof. The driver is given his own basket with rope tied to it and, once every apple on the branch is picked, he uses the rope to lower it down. The farmer and apple pickers are very impressed!
