The Bascule Bridge, or "drawbridge" as it is also known, was built in the 2003 magazine story, Broken Bridges. It was opened by the Mayor of Sodor and Caroline was the first vehicle to travel over it. Lorry 1 and Lorry 2 helped to build it by bringing to supplies to the building site.
