- "Did he say that our crew does not fail, or avoids all whales?"
"I dunno, but both are true right?" - ― Thomas and Percy
The Can-Do Submarine Crew!, also known as Can-Do Submarine Crew, is the twenty-eighth episode of the first series of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.
Plot[]
Thomas and Percy are chugging down the line playing My Eye-Spy one day. Soon the pair arrives at Knapford, and the two spy something strange; a huge submarine! Gordon arrives and explains that the submarine must get to Vicarstown, but his piston ring is faulty, so he can't deliver it. Thomas offers to help, but he isn't strong enough to pull it on his own. Percy offers to push from the back, and together the two engines leave Knapford with the submarine.
After passing the hill, Harold the Helicopter arrives and has a chat with Thomas and Percy. Harold then leaves to pick up a delivery at Brendam, while the engines change tracks to go near some cows. Percy doesn't switch onto the track and bounces off the rails, so Thomas stops to check if Percy is alright. Percy explains that he couldn't hear Thomas over Harold's rotors. Thomas suggests they communicate using their whistles. This becomes a bit much for Percy to remember, but he agrees with the idea, and the two friends set off again. But soon, the pair encounter Quickdraw Bridge, which is up. Thomas quickly lets out three peeps to stop, but Percy doesn't understand, so Thomas lets out a stop signal. Thomas is about to fall into the river, when Percy stops just in time. Thomas soon gets himself back onto the tracks, and the bridge lowers, so the pair continue their journey.
The engines soon approach a dead end and have to stop. Thomas and Percy suggest going through Crumble Canyon, but decide not to, so they go down Cannonball Curve instead. However, it's easier said than done, as because their load is so long, Percy nearly falls off the ledge. The two friends think for a moment about who should help them, when Percy sees Harold. He and Thomas call for Harold and they suggest that he carries the back of the submarine while they go at the front. Harold agrees to help, but because his rotor's are so loud, Harold doesn't understand the two engines. With quick thinking, the engines use a smoke signal telling him to go right, but this leads to Thomas nearly derailing. Thomas and Percy both decide that Harold should keep to his left while they go right, and that works, and the engines and the helicopter make it down Cannonball Curve easily. Thomas, Percy, and Harold safely arrive at Vicarstown with the submarine, and Sir Topham Hatt praises them for their work.
