Television Series[]

The Coaling Plant is a fictional facility on the Island of Sodor.

The Coaling Plant first appeared in Thomas and the Magic Railroad, which premiered in 2000. Its last appearance was in the eleventh series episode Thomas and the Stinky Cheese, which was released in 2007.

Behind the Scenes[]

Gauge 1 set[]

It was built as a 16-by-20-foot set for a 1:32 scale.

  • It has had numerous modifications throughout the years:
    • Series 6:
      • The track layout changes.
      • The Tipper loading ramp is added.
      • There is now a dock yard behind it.
      • There are now much more sidings for trucks.
    • Series 7:
      • The track layout changes again.
      • The Tipper loading ramp is removed.
      • There is now a large warehouse with hoppers connected to it.
      • The ground and tracks are covered in coal.
      • There are now fewer sidings and more buildings.
      • There is a large pipe over top of the tracks.
    • Series 8:
      • The track layout changes again.
      • The Tipper Loading Ramp returns.
      • There is a town behind both exits of the plant.
      • The sidings are on the left side.
