“Go on, Toby. What are you waiting for? Don't you want to go back to your shed?"
"Yeah, but in one piece.”
―Henrietta and Toby

The Inventor's Spectacular Bridge is the fifteenth episode of the twenty-fourth series.

When the Rickety Old Bridge collapses, trapping Toby and Henrietta on the other side of the ravine, Inventor Ruth is asked to build a new one. This comes in the form of the Walking Bridge.

US and CAN

  • Going by production order, this is the thirteenth episode of the twenty-fourth series.
  • This marks the last of few things:
    • Sonny and Rocky's final appearances.
    • Harold's final appearance in the original series.
    • Toby's final speaking and starring role.
    • The final episode to feature the newly updated Engine Roll Call song at the end.
    • Dianna Basso's final episode as consulting director and the last episode to have her involved in production.
  • This episode officially confirms that Rocky's forward cars can be uncoupled from him (something only seen in merchandise of him), demonstrated when he clears up the bridge debris.
  • This marks two things for the Rickety Old Bridge:
    • Its only appearance following its first appearance in the sixth series episode, Toby Had a Little Lamb and thus its final appearance overall.
    • Its only appearance in full CGI.
  • This episode marks the first time Toby's shed has been referred to by name since the fifteenth series.
  • In Poland, this episode premiered before A New Arrival, so the audience would not know who Sonny or Ruth are.
  • When Harold warns Toby to stop when the bridge had broken, it is similar to how he saved Toby in the fifth series episode, Toby and the Flood.
  • This episode was never aired in Germany and South Korea.
  • In the Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Baltic Russian dubs, the UK dub can be heard in the background as a dubbing track was not used.

  • When Rocky is loading parts of the broken bridge into Emily's trucks, his piston rods are floating.
  • The support cables on Thomas' flatbeds are angled a short distance farther from the load.
